Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition Cheats – What You Need to Know

Before using cheat codes, keep the following in mind:

Enabling cheats in Definitive Edition will disable achievements for that match.
Cheat units (units spawned through cheat codes) appear at your Town Center. If you don’t have a Town Center, unit-spawning cheats won’t work.
In standard matches (single-player or multiplayer), cheats must be enabled before starting the game. Go to Advanced Settings and check ✅ the “Allow Cheats” option.

How to Use Cheat Codes in Age of Empires II

While in a match:

ℹ️ On PC:

Press the Enter key to open the chat window.
Type the cheat code (it is not case-sensitive).
Press Enter again.

The cheat will activate instantly.

ℹ️ On Xbox, the process is similar. Pause the game and navigate to “CHAT & DIPLOMACY,” where you’ll find the chat box to enter cheat codes.

I R WINNER – Instantly win the game.
BLACK DEATH – Eliminates all enemies and grants victory.
TORPEDOX – Eliminates player X (replace X with the player number you want to remove, for example, TORPEDO4 eliminates Player 4).
RESIGN – Instantly surrender the match.
WIMPYWIMPYWIMPY – Causes all your units to self-destruct, resulting in defeat.

Other Cheat Codes

NATURAL WONDERS – Gives you control of Gaia and all map animals, but you lose control of your civilization.
!MUTE – Disables Taunts and preset chat messages.
!NOMUTE – Re-enables Taunts and preset chat messages.

CATZOR – Spawns a cat riding a shark equipped with jet engines and laser cannons. It flies, moves extremely fast, and ignores collision with units and terrain.
